Baseball Recap: Kanab Triumphs

Kanab's tournament run continued when they took on Tooele on Friday. Kanab won by a run and slipped past Tooele 2-1.

Kyan Lyman spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Kanab's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kanon Virostko, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Another was Latimer Glover, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Kanab has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. Tooele's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coincidentally, Kanab and Tooele will both be playing Crimson Cliffs the next time they take the field. Tooele will head out to face Crimson Cliffs at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, while Kanab will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
