Basketball Recap: Sierra Grande Comes Up Short

Sierra Grande came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through a 54-11 loss at the hands of the Hoehne Farmers. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Sierra Grande still got an impressive performance from Ashly Rodriguez, who posted two points along with six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Rodriguez a new career-high in steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hoehne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braylee Foster, who went 7-for-13 en route to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Kaylah Crosson, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 14 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Sierra Grande's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Hoehne, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Sierra Grande wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-15 win against Sangre de Cristo on the 14th. As for Hoehne, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-18 victory against Swallows Charter Academy on the 14th.
