Recap: St. Mary's Dragons vs. Charleston Bluejays
Even though the Charleston Bluejays scored an imposing 62 points on Tuesday, the St. Mary's Dragons still came out on top. St. Mary's took their game against Charleston 73-62. Given St. Mary's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Charleston is ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Charleston lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ko'terrion Owens. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Treshaun Schandon, who scored 13 points.
St. Mary's pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.8 points per game. As for Charleston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will take on Non Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Charleston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jackson will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
