Baseball Recap: Hopewell Comes Up Short

Hopewell was the 6-2 winner over North Catholic when they last played one another back in May of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Vikings fell 5-1 to the Trojans on Monday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

David Medich was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Hopewell saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody McCullough, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Logan Triscila also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Hopewell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for North Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hopewell beat the Trojans by a score of 8-4 on Tuesday.
