Recap: North Schuylkill Spartans vs. Pottsville Crimson Tide
The North Schuylkill Spartans won the last time they faced the Pottsville Crimson Tide, and things went their way on Friday too. North Schuylkill took down Pottsville 37-21. Given North Schuylkill's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Pottsville is ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Schuylkill can attribute much of their success to Caden Mengel, who threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown. Joey Flail got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Pottsville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Terrell Mcfarland. Despite the final result, he rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Mcfarland was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards.
North Schuylkill's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Pottsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
North Schuylkill will be playing in front of their home fans against Tamaqua at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pottsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
