Softball Recap: Payton College Prep Comes Up Short

Payton College Prep couldn't beat ITW David Speer Academy on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Grizzlies lost 14-6 to the Pride. The Grizzlies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pride earlier this season, when they won 9-6.

Tessa McGuire and Saya Tanabe did some serious damage despite the final result: McGuire got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Tanabe got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Evelyn Suss was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Payton College Prep now has a losing record of 12-13. As for ITW David Speer Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-11.

The future could be bright for both Payton College Prep and ITW David Speer Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Grizzlies will try to hand Jones their third-straight loss when the two meet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, ITW David Speer Academy will look to extend Bulls College Prep's three-game losing streak when they meet at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
