Basketball Recap: University Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact University can now relate to. They lost 58-36 to the Winter Park Wildcats on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered against the Wildcats since January 13, 2023.

Winter Park's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jake Baker led the charge by putting up 14 points. Baker is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last five games he's played. Will Ryan was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Winter Park, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. University will challenge Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Winter Park, they will face off against Lake Brantley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Winter Park is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.
