Basketball Recap: Sports Leadership & Management Comes Up Short

Sports Leadership & Management was the 49-39 winner over Pahrump Valley when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sports Leadership & Management Bulls fell to the Pahrump Valley Trojans 53-49. The Bulls' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Sports Leadership & Management saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jael Cousett went 8 for 10 en route to 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for Cousett. Another player making a difference was Pablo-Ernestro Cruz-Lara, who posted seven points along with six blocks and five rebounds.

Keir Sheppard was the offensive standout of the match as he went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Toth, who put up nine points and five boards.

Sports Leadership & Management's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Pahrump Valley, they moved to 5-16 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Sports Leadership & Management will face off against The Meadows School at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Meadows School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.3 points per game this season. Pahrump Valley has already played their next contest (against Bonanza), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
