Soccer Game Preview: Canyon vs. Villa Park

The Canyon Comanches will take on the Villa Park Spartans in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Villa Park better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Canyon really get things going. Everything went Canyon's way against Ganesha on Friday as Canyon made off with a 4-1 win. The matchup marked the Comanches' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Meanwhile, Villa Park kept a clean sheet against Firebaugh on Tuesday. They skirted past the Falcons 1-0. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Falcons are ranked 840th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Villa Park's win bumped their record up to 5-1-1. As for Canyon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1-1.
