Baseball Recap: St. Bernard's Central Catholic Finds Home Field Redemption Against Trivium

There's no place like home for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Trivium Eagles on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-1 two weeks ago.

Austin Gibbons and Jonathan Quigley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Gibbons kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Quigley struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gibbons also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. Bernard's Central Catholic is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-8 otherwise. At the plate, Gibbons went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Quigley went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave Quigley a new career-high.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noah Fournier, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. St. Bernard's Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

St. Bernard's Central Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Trivium, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-7.
