Baseball Game Preview: Rifle Bears vs. Basalt Longhorns

Rifle is 6-1 against Basalt since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bears will challenge the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Rifle and three for Basalt.

On Thursday, Rifle came up short against Delta and fell 7-4.

Quentin Kramer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Rifle's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Basalt didn't have quite enough to beat Colorado Academy on Monday and fell 7-6.

Elias Schendler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Basalt's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Rifle, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rifle has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Basalt struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Rifle came up short against Basalt in their previous matchup back in March, falling 14-11. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
