Baseball Recap: Timpview Takes a Loss

Timpview extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-10. They lost 27-6 to the Maple Mountain Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-4 on Tuesday.

Cole Engemann was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Timpview: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Will Cannon, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Maple Mountain, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

On Maple Mountain's side, Jeremiah Hall was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Eli Renz also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Timpview wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-7 defeat against Payson on the 17th. As for Maple Mountain, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 win against Spanish Fork on the 17th.
