Basketball Recap: Nick Wilfong Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Northern Potter

Port Allegany won the last time they faced Northern Potter and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Port Allegany Gators took down the Northern Potter Panthers 51-33.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Port Allegany to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nick Wilfong, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and six steals. With that strong performance, Wilfong is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. Jacob Causer was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Port Allegany has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Northern Potter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Allegany will welcome Oswayo Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Northern Potter, they will host Cowanesque Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northern Potter is facing Cowanesque Valley at the right time seeing as Cowanesque Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
