, an outstanding defensive end from
Mount Carmel (Chicago), will announce his college choice during the MaxPreps/Lemming Report Friday night (7 p.m., EST) on the CBS Sports Network.
Host Tom Lemming calls the 6-foot-3, 275-pounder "real steady, tough and strong. I think he will wind up playing defensive line in college. He'll be playing against blockers up the middle instead of the ends."
Lemming noted that Williams had an outstanding game recently against five-star offensive tackle Jordan Diamond (6-6, 290) from Simeon (Chicago). Diamond is ranked No. 1 in the Midwest at his position.
Williams is expected to choose a team from either the Big Ten or the Big 12.
* Lemming said he was very impressed by last week's guests, Sean "Diddy" Combs and his son,
Justin Combs.
He called Sean Combs "a very soft spoken guy for a big name, polite and knowledgeable about football."
Jordan Watkins will cross the countryand commit to Stanford.

* During this week's show, Lemming will be showing film and discussing the top 10 defensive linemen in the country.
* On the recruiting front, he noted that Stanford has beaten out Georgia for four-star defensive tackle

* Lemming also has been impressed by University of North Carolina recruiters. He explained, "Despite an NCAA cloud (possible sanctions) hanging over their heads, they still are doing a good job of contacting kids. They have put themselves in a position to do well as soon as the sanctions are announced. If the sanctions are bad (however) they'll probably lose a lot of them."
* Lemming likes to talk about the "Elite 16." They are colleges which, he believes, are going to bring in top recruits year after year. Even bad years on the field probably won't affect them too badly, because of facilities, tradition and media coverage. The list includes Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Southern California, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Miami and Florida State.
* The most fertile recruiting hotbeds for many years have been California, Texas and Florida, followed by Ohio, Pennsylvania, Georgia, New Jersey and Illinois. Lemming added that for smaller states, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana produce some outstanding players. He tabbed the Tidewater area in Virginia, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City as areas on the rise.
