            Softball Recap: Frankfort Panthers vs. Ballard Memorial Bombers        
        
		
        
        
            Frankfort fought the good fight in their extra-innings  game against Ballard Memorial  on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell  8-5 to the Bombers.
 Taylor Gaines put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  eight innings while giving up  six earned  (and one unearned) runs off   ten  hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-3 with two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Sadie Dungan was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 2-for-4 with three  runs and one  stolen base.  Lilli Wainscott also deserves some recognition as  she  hit her first  double of the season.
Frankfort has  been struggling recently as they've  lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record  this season. As for Ballard Memorial, their victory was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 10-6.
 Coming up, Frankfort will take on Western Hills at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Ballard Memorial, they will venture away from home to  take on Shelby Valley  at 7:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
