Softball Game Preview: Jurupa Valley Jaguars vs. Ramona Rams

For the second straight game, Jurupa Valley will face off against Ramona. The Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Jurupa Valley had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Ramona put an end to it on Tuesday. The Jaguars came up short against the Rams, falling 16-0. The Jaguars' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

For Ramona's part, the result came thanks to Kaytlin Stephens's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. Stephens has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kylie Guzman and Olivia Chavez did most of the damage at the plate: Guzman went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Chavez went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Gonzalez, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

The win (which was Ramona's tenth in a row) raised their record to 14-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.9 runs over those games. As for Jurupa Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
