Softball Recap: Kennett's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Kennett unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Clearwater Fightin' Tigers by a score of 1-0. The Indians were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the six games prior), but the Fightin' Tigers' pitcher proved too tough.

Handley McAtee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

Kennett's defeat dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Clearwater, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennett will face off against Campbell at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clearwater, they will square off against Naylor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
