Basketball Recap: Hunt Warriors vs. Rocky Mount Gryphons

After flying high against Beddingfield last Friday, Hunt came back down to earth. The Hunt Warriors took a blow against the Rocky Mount Gryphons on Monday, falling 77-35. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Gryphons recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aiyana Harrison, who posted seven points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Juliana Jones, who had eight points.

Kira Jones was nothing short of spectacular for Rocky Mount: she dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Jones' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keysha Mizzell, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

Hunt now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Rocky Mount, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hunt will square off against C.B. Aycock at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. C.B. Aycock has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Rocky Mount, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Hunt at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
