The Kouts Mustangs & Fillies will square off against the Morgan Township Cherokees at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kouts will be strutting in after a victory while Morgan Township will be coming in after a loss.
Kouts is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Marquette Catholic. The Mustangs & Fillies not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 8th (when they won 15-0).

Katelyn Kleckner and Kayla Florence made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Kleckner struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Florence tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Kleckner went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Florence went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those five RBI gave Kleckner a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kouts let Anna Overholt and Cheyanne Bailey run wild. Overholt went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double, while Bailey went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Overholt a new career-high. Sophia Tikalsky was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Kouts always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
South Bend Riley hit Morgan Township with a five-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cherokees took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Cherokees have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The win made it two in a row for Kouts and bumps their season record up to 9-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Morgan Township, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.
Kouts came out on top in a nail-biter against Morgan Township in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 10-8. Do the Mustangs & Fillies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cherokees turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
