Baseball Recap: Gunderson Has No Trouble Against James Lick

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Overfelt, Gunderson was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the James Lick Comets with a sharp 16-4 win. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Brian Uribe was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Estrada, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Gunderson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Lick only posted an OBP of .423.

Gunderson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for James Lick, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gunderson will welcome Harker at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight. As for James Lick, they will be playing at home against Mt. Pleasant at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
