Basketball Recap: Roy Takes a Loss

Roy lost against Woods Cross back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Roy Royals were outmatched by the Woods Cross Wildcats and fell 58-30. That's two games in a row now that the Royals have lost by exactly 28 points.

Roy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerzee Hart, who posted eight points along with ten boards and eight blocks. Hart has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ariana Strain, who scored ten points and five boards.

Woods Cross was led to victory by Grace MacArthur and Adia Cook. MacArthur went 8 of 14 on her way to 21 points and seven rebounds, while Cook went 8 for 14 en route to 21 points and four steals. Cook continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Roy and nudges their season record down to 7-13. As for Woods Cross, their record now sits at 13-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roy will welcome Bountiful at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bountiful is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season. As for Woods Cross, they will host Northridge at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
