Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Rhys Walcott and Kolby Hoyer Lead Eastmark to Victory

On Saturday, the Eastmark Firebirds earned a 57-50 win over the Maricopa Rams. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Firebirds.

Leading Eastmark to victory were Kolby Hoyer and Rhys Walcott. Hoyer posted 13 points along with six boards and four steals, while Walcott put up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayson Paulo, who had nine points and six rebounds.

Eastmark's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Maricopa, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastmark will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Westview at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Eastmark is facing Westview at the right time seeing as Westview is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Maricopa also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Cibola at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
