Basketball Recap: Nixon Triumphs

Nixon won the last time they faced Laredo LBJ and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mustangs walked away with a 59-46 win over the Wolves. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Nixon had a senior duo take command as AJ Palacios shot 56% from the field to rack up 27 points and Dante Escobar posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Escobar is becoming a predictor of the Mustangs' success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 2-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). William Palumbo was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

The victory got Nixon back to even at 7-7. As for Laredo LBJ, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-2.

Nixon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-37 win against Harmony School of Excellence on the 4th. As for Laredo LBJ, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-44 defeat against Winn on the 4th.
