Softball Game Preview: Archbishop Hannan Hawks vs. Houma Christian Warriors

The Archbishop Hannan Hawks will venture away from home to square off against the Houma Christian Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Archbishop Hannan had taken Doyle down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Hawks took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Houma Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over South Lafourche on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lily Cunningham and Emily Doiron were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cunningham pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Doiron pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cunningham has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Cunningham scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Doiron scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Cunningham has posted over her last ten contests.

In other batting news, Aubrey Thomas was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Dies, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Houma Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .800. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Houma Christian now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Archbishop Hannan, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.
