Softball Game Preview: Southern Christian Patriots vs. Ezekiel Academy Knights

The Southern Christian Patriots will head out to face off against the Ezekiel Academy Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Christian has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southern Christian came up short against Evangel Christian on Friday, falling 11-1. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Southern Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Journee McKee, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Maggie White was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Ezekiel Academy had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lightning, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted against the Lightning since April 11, 2023.

Sarah Vick made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Ezekiel Academy pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Southern Christian beat Ezekiel Academy 11-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southern Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
