Softball Recap: Waterbury Career Academy Spartans vs. St. Paul Catholic Falcons
Waterbury Career Academy extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-12 in the process. They lost 14-0 to the St. Paul Catholic Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-1 back in April.
As for St. Paul Catholic, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
For St. Paul Catholic's part, Isabella McCulloch was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases McCulloch has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily McCulloch, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Waterbury Career Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Torrington at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, St. Paul Catholic will face off against rival Wolcott at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.1, the Eagles 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
