Softball Recap: Petoskey's Undefeated Season over After 18 Games

After flying high against Pioneer on Saturday, Petoskey came back down to earth. The Northmen lost 10-3 to the Lake Orion Dragons on Saturday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Northmen, who until this contest were averaging 3.06 runs allowed.

Petoskey saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bre VerCautren, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Alexis Cadarette was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Having lost for the first time this season, Petoskey fell to 17-1. As for Lake Orion, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Petoskey and Lake Orion should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Northmen (ranked fourth) will meet Alpena (ranked 207th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lake Orion will challenge North Farmington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (84 vs. 254).
