Softball Recap: Cheboygan Takes a Loss

Cheboygan had lost ten straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-12 to make it 11. They lost 6-0 to the Gladstone Braves. That's two games in a row now that the Chiefs have lost by exactly six runs.

As for Gladstone, their victory bumped their record up to 25-3. Considering they have won 17 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Gladstone's part, not much got past Tia Schone, who gave up just three hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep Cheboygan off the board. Schone has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lauren Sundquist was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and one stolen base while going 4-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Trombley, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

As of now, neither Cheboygan nor Gladstone have any future games scheduled.
