Midland Valley had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They snuck past the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets with a 62-57 win. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 78-61 victory the Fighting Green Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Aiken's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Armani Jones, who posted 16 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Graham, who put up 11 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Midland Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Aiken, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midland Valley will head out to take on South Aiken at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Midland Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games. As for Aiken, they will venture away from home to face off against Gray Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Aiken has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
