Softball Recap: Brillion Makes It Five in a Row at Home

On Tuesday Brillion's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Chilton Tigers. The nine-run effort marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Amaya Brooks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Brooks was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kara Hedrich, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Malia Piepenburg also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Brillion's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Chilton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Brillion is set to take on their familiar foe Valders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 2.9, the Vikings 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Chilton will square off against rival Roncalli at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
