Baseball Recap: Oceanside Takes a Loss

Oceanside had taken Medomak Valley down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Mariners might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-1 to the Panthers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Mariners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jake Watkinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Oceanside is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Oceanside saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dom Frisone, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Oceanside now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Medomak Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.

Coming up, Oceanside will face off against Morse at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Shipbuilders will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Mariners surely won't give up without a fight. Medomak Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
