Volleyball Recap: Bishop Neumann Takes Down Ranked Guardian Angels Central Catholic

Bishop Neumann faced Guardian Angels Central Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Bluejays. The Cavaliers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 3, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

One reason for the win was Bishop Neumann's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-15, 25-12.

Leading Bishop Neumann to victory were Madison Wiese and Lily Woita. Wiese had eight digs and four aces, while Woita had ten digs. That's the most digs Woita has posted over her last eight contests.

Despite the loss, Guardian Angels Central Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emma Cohee had 17 assists and eight digs. Cohee is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 17 or more in each of the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season. Tessa Lund also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Bishop Neumann pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, their defeat ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 14-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Bishop Neumann will square off against Aquinas at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, they will face off against Cedar Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
