On Friday, the Grand Prairie Gophers came up short against the Keller Central Chargers and fell 42-30. The Gophers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grand Prairie lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Julian Salas, who threw for 188 yards and three touchdowns. Bralen Smith helped Salas out on the ground, picking up 81 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 50 yards.

Grand Prairie wouldn't let Keller Central keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Grand Prairie can thank Xavier Rodriguez and Tyron Delaney for forcing both of them. Among those leading the charge was Landon Smith, who threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards. Keller Central also got a significant boost from Spencer Martin, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.

Grand Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Keller Central, the win snapped their losing streak at 11 games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-1 record.

Grand Prairie will square off against Nimitz at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Keller Central, they will take on Trinity on Friday.
