Preview: Troy Warriors vs. Santa Monica Vikings

The Troy Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Santa Monica Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Troy walked away with it. They came out on top against Monrovia by a score of 41-28 on Friday. Troy pushed the score to 34-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Monrovia cut but never quite recovered from.

Troy found their leader in underclassman Ethan Mundt, who rushed for 181 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Declan Kai healey, who gained 89 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Santa Monica ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Santa Ana with a 33-27 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Santa Monica as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Santa Monica to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caden Mccallum, who rushed for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Mccallum was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Brown, who rushed for 23 yards and two touchdowns.

Troy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Santa Monica, their win bumped their record up to an identical 7-4.
