Basketball Recap: Antonio Dixon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Huntington over Airline

Huntington was the 68-29 winner over Airline when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Huntington Raiders fell to the Airline Vikings 59-55. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Raiders came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Vikings are ranked 115th).

Huntington's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antonio Dixon, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points and seven boards. Tyler Welch was another key player, putting up ten points.

Huntington has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-8 record this season. As for Airline, they moved to 18-14 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Huntington has already played their next game (against Natchitoches Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Airline will be playing at home against Parkway at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
