Baseball Game Preview: St. Xavier Bombers vs. Elder Panthers

The St. Xavier Bombers will challenge the Elder Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Xavier 2.8, Elder 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

St. Xavier is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over Lakota West. The victory continues a trend for the Bombers in their matchups with the Firebirds: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Elder faced Beavercreek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Panthers didn't even let the Beavers on the board, marking the Panthers' second-straight 2-0 shutout.

The result came thanks to Caleb McComas's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jack Rosenacker was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

St. Xavier's record now sits at 22-5. As for Elder, their record is now 19-10.
