Volleyball Recap: Mountain Valley Comes Up Short

Mountain Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Sierra Grande Panthers. While the Wolves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-17 in the first set.

Mountain Valley started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-20.

When it comes to explaining why Mountain Valley lost, don't look at Ivy Jean VanEgmond. Despite the final result, she had 22 digs and three aces. VanEgmond is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Zenna Hess also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Mountain Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Sierra Grande, their win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 4-10.

Mountain Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Sangre de Cristo on the 2nd. As for Sierra Grande, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Primero on the 3rd.
