Recap: Harvest Prep Warriors vs. Thurgood Marshall Cougars
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Blackhawk, the Harvest Prep Warriors were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They secured a 55-49 W over Thurgood Marshall. That's another feather in the cap for Harvest Prep, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Harvest Prep found their leader in underclassman Adjoa Acheampong, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. Acheampong also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliyah Lofton, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists.
Thurgood Marshall's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ma?kayla Williams, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Williams scored a full 36.7% of Thurgood Marshall's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Morganne Postell was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Thurgood Marshall were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harvest Prep only pulled down 26 offensive rebounds.
The win got Harvest Prep back to even at 3-3. As for Thurgood Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harvest Prep will challenge Wellington School at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wellington School is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Thurgood Marshall, they will head out on the road to face off against Withrow at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th.
