Baseball Recap: Westlake Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Westlake, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They skirted past the Santa Barbara Dons 4-2. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Dons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Connor Jacobson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Westlake's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mason Charles, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Charles a new career-high. Mason Berlinger also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The win got Westlake back to even at 2-2. As for Santa Barbara, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.

Coming up, Westlake will face off against Ventura at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ventura's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Westlake's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Santa Barbara, they will be playing at home against Quartz Hill at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
