Basketball Recap: Mid-Pacific Institute Falls Short Against Ranked St. Louis

On Thursday, Mid-Pacific Institute faced St. Louis in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Mid-Pacific Institute Owls were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to the St. Louis Crusaders. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-52 two weeks ago.

Several Owls players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan Mason, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds. Mason's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Darius Chizer, who went 6 for 12 en route to 16 points.

Mid-Pacific Institute has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-16 record this season. As for St. Louis, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 24-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mid-Pacific Institute will venture away from home to challenge Maryknoll at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Louis, they are taking a road trip to take on 'Iolani at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
