Football Recap: Midway Sets Scoring Season-High Against Princeton + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Midway). Everything went their way against the Princeton Bulldogs on Friday as they made off with a 73-50 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their 12-point performance the matchup before.

Tanner Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 277 yards and four scores on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 183 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine passes. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wesley Tew, who rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Midway was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 453 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Princeton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Teo McPhatter rushed for 398 yards and five TDs while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. Those 398 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for McPhatter. Gerell Bogle was another key player, rushing for 143 yards and one score on only 13 carries.

Midway's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Princeton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midway will challenge Spring Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will be up against the Gators' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Princeton, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wallace-Rose Hill at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
