Volleyball Recap: North Star Has No Trouble Against Altoona

North Star barely beat Altoona the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars blew past the Mountain Lions 3-0 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Mountain Lions: they've now won three in a row.

One reason for the win was North Star's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 30-28, 25-19, 25-14.

Alyssa Kostyk paced North Star's offense, picking up eight kills. Kostyk got some help from Ella Hurley and her 17 assists.

Despite the loss, Altoona still got an impressive performance from Marina Petucci, who had 23 digs. Petucci has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maraya Bittner, who had 11 assists and five digs.

North Star's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Altoona, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-17-1.

As of now, neither North Star nor the Mountain Lions have any future games scheduled.
