Basketball Game Preview: Blountstown Tigers vs. Sneads Pirates

Blountstown and Sneads are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Blountstown Tigers will welcome the Sneads Pirates at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Blountstown's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Sneads has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Last Monday, Blountstown strolled past Holmes County with points to spare, taking the game 58-44. The Tigers pushed the score to 50-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blue Devils cut but never quite recovered from.

Blountstown found their leader in sophomore Curtis Ellis, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. Ellis' afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Cyion Smith was another key player, going 6 for 8 en route to 13 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Sneads came up short against Cottondale on Friday and fell 53-41.

Blountstown will have to keep a close watch on Michael Perkins and Jamir Smith, a pair of players who had a big impact on Sneads' prior game. Perkins posted 17 points along with seven boards and five assists, while Smith went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points. Those 17 points gave Perkins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was John Loftus, who had a point and eight rebounds.

Sneads' loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Blountstown, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Blountstown strolled past Sneads in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 57-39. Will Blountstown repeat their success, or does Sneads have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
