Baseball Game Preview: Malcolm Clippers vs. Standing Bear Grizzlies

The Malcolm Clippers are taking a road trip to challenge the Standing Bear Grizzlies at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Malcolm will be strutting in after a victory while Standing Bear will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, Malcolm made easy work of Raymond Central and carried off a 12-1 win. The Clippers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Logan Mcgreer and Mason Wisnieski did most of the damage at the plate: Mcgreer went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Wisnieski went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Mcgreer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carson Frank, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Malcolm was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Standing Bear was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They fell 5-1 to Kearney. The Grizzlies' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Malcolm's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Standing Bear, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Standing Bear's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Malcolm hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349.
