Basketball Recap: Young Americans Christian Takes a Loss

Young Americans Christian was the 80-70 winner over New Creation Christian Academy when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell 72-61 to the Crusaders on Tuesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Young Americans Christian lost, don't look at Yazan Aldawi. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 18 points and 18 boards. With that strong performance, Aldawi is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Joshua Blunt was another key player, putting up eight points.

New Creation Christian Academy was led to victory by Caleb Estes and Jordan Estes. Caleb shot 55% from the field en route to 28 points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds, while Jordan went 9-for-20 to rack up 26 points. Jordan has become a key player for the Crusaders: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 15 points, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Zaworski, who posted eight points and six boards.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 3-2. As for New Creation Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Young Americans Christian will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Hills Academy at 6:30 p.m. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for New Creation Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Skipstone Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
