Baseball Recap: Simmons Takes a Loss

After flying high against South Delta on Tuesday, Simmons came back down to earth. The Blue Devils lost 23-17 to the Shaw Warriors on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 14-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Tyrone Buchanan stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Simmons: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentoris Wallace, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Simmons' defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Shaw, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Simmons will welcome O'Bannon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Shaw, they are taking a road trip to square off against North Side at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
