Preview: Saugus Sachems vs. Wilmington Wildcats
The Saugus Sachems will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wilmington Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Saugus will be strutting in after a victory while Wilmington will be coming in after a loss.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Saugus walked away with it. They came out on top against Georgetown/Pentucket Regional by a score of 20-8 on Friday. The win was just what Saugus needed coming off of a 38-8 loss in their prior match.
Among those leading the charge was Isaiah Rodriguez, who picked up 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Wilmington's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Foxborough 42-0. While losing is never fun, Wilmington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Foxborough is ranked 12th).
Saugus now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Wilmington, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
