Baseball Recap: Glendale Takes a Loss

Glendale extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-9 in the process. They lost 18-1 to the Lost River Raiders. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 4, 2018, but that streak is no more.

As for Lost River, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Lost River's part, Kyle Diaz was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Diaz also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lost River is 7-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Diaz was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Conner Guthrie was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Lacy, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

While Glendale had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
