Baseball Game Preview: Chapin Eagles vs. Lugoff-Elgin Demons

The Chapin Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Lugoff-Elgin Demons at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Chapin took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Wren as they made off with a 9-2 victory.

Cullen Craft looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Weston Plotner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Caden Guy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lugoff-Elgin). They never let Ridge View get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Thursday. The Demons haven't had any issues with the Blazers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Chapin's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Lugoff-Elgin, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.

Chapin beat Lugoff-Elgin 5-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Demons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
