Softball Game Preview: Danvers Falcons vs. Marblehead Magicians

The Danvers Falcons will face off against the Marblehead Magicians at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Danvers took a loss when they played away from home on Sunday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Salem with a sharp 13-1 win. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Witches recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Briley Keezer was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Addi McCarty was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Danvers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Marblehead never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Winthrop. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Magicians considering their two-run performance the game before.

Danvers' win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Marblehead, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.

Danvers came out on top in a nail-biter against Marblehead when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Magicians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
